This week I was reminded that training is key. I have been running for many years, but have always kept my mileage around 5. The last few weeks I have been increasing my mileage, and this week I did an 11 mile trail run. I felt great in the moment, but my knees paid dearly the next few days. I had pushed myself to far to fast. I experience the same thing when I try to run ahead of what God is doing in my life. I realized that if I want to go the distance and fulfill the plan that God has for me, I must train consistently. Time in the word and in prayer can not be rushed and requires consistency.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
